A photo-certificate from Wanda de Guébriant dated Paris, 1 March 1984 accompanies this drawing, which is recorded under no. X83 in the artist's archives.


The model for this drawing is likely Antoinette Arnoux, one of three sisters who posed for the artist during his early years in Nice. She was the subject of many of his most celebrated pictures from this period, including the White Plumes series of paintings and drawings.
