A KOTO WAKIZASHI IN A SAME SCABBARD
Kinzogan mei: Chiyozuru, 14th Century
The blade of honzukuri, mitsumune with bo-hi on both sides, extended chu-gissaki, torii-zori, forging pattern mokume, tempered edge midare, ko-maru boshi, tang ubu, Echizen province, 53.9cm.; encased in a light green lacquered same zaya, horn kurikata, koiguchi and uragawara, cotton wrapped tsuka with gilt menuki of a dragon, copper fuchi-kashira decorated in takabori and iroe zogan with insects, a circular iron tsuba depicting grass and insects in gold nunome zogan and shakudo nanako kozuka worked in takabori, gilt and silver zogan, the blade with an inscription Izumi no kami Kunitsugu, (slight wear)
