The blade hirazukuri, iorimune, forged with itame and masame, the tempered edge with o-notare of dense nie, kaeri-boshi, the tang slightly machi-okuri with two holes, 38.8cm.; encased in a black lacquer spiral ribbed saya with lacquered cotton bound tsuka, shakudo and gilt menuki of a tiger, fitted with silvered metal mounts in the form of billowing waves, an otafuku gata tsuba en suite carved with waves, the iron kozuka with gamahada and a silvered warikogai in the form of vajra, (uragawara missing), 19th Century
