Mei: Nanaju-ni [seventy-two years old] o, Masahide with a seal and dated Bunsei sannen [1820] hachi gatsu bi, Kaifu Dotan barai
The blade honzukuri, iorimune with chu-gissaki, torii-zori, forging pattern tight itame and tempered edge ko-midare of nie and nioi, maru-boshi, tang ubu, 69.6cm.; encased in a same scabbard with black lacquered kurikata and koiguchi, (kashira missing, some chips), with cotton wrapped tsuka bearing shakudo and gilt menuki of a boat on a stream and shakudo nanako fuchi-kashira decorated with chidori, an iron aorigata tsuba carved in relief with a landscape, a shibuichi kozuka inlaid in white metal with butterflies, 19th Century
