The katana mei: Mori(?)mitsu, 16th Century
The katana blade honzukuri, torii-zori, running itame-hada with extended chugissaki, midare hamon, with midare-komi boshi, tang machi-okuri (approx. 8cm), Bizen province, 64.8cm.; the wakizashi blade honzukuri, torii-zori itame-hada with chu gissaki, gunome-midare hamon, with hakikake boshi, o-suriage nakago; 37.4cm.; encased in their aogai lacquer saya, overlaid with stylised flowers and butterflies, shakudo-nanako fuchi-kashira with shakudo and gilt shishi, dragon menuki, one pair gilt, the other brass, iron tsuba with dragons and clouds in gold and silver nunome zogan, shakudo-nanako kozuka with a gilt dragon, (restored), (2)
