A COURT STYLE TACHI IN A LACQUER SCABBARD
Mei: Ashu ju Ujiyoshi, 19th Century
The blade honzukuri, iorimune, carving of bonji and futasuji-bi on the omote, and a dragon and a jewel to the ura, extended chu-gissaki, torii-zori, forging pattern obscure, tempered edge gunome-midare of nioi, kaeri boshi, tang slight suriage with two holes, 67.7cm.; encased in a nashiji scabbard decorated with aoi mon and kiri mon among scrolling foliage in gold hiramakie, metal court tachi style fittings decorated similarly to the scabbard in kebori, tsuka with a metal ho-o bird decoration, tawara-byo, dragon menuki and shitogi tsuba, (slight wear)
