MYOCHIN PART UCHIDASHI-DO OF FUDO
Signed Myochin ki Muneyoshi saku, 19th Century
The front iron plate deeply carved and modelled in repousse with Fudo Myo-o with dragon holding a ken while wrapped in flames, standing on a rock among turbulent waves, munaita between the do and oshitsuke-no-ita decorated with copper gilt and shakudo nanako, with half-circle mail with three separate silk brocade pieces

Lot Essay

Myochin Myneyoshi was one of the good armourers who worked in the late Edo period. His works were rated as Jo-Jo I in Chappelear, K.K., Japanese Armour Makers for The Samurai (Miyoshi Printing Co., Ltd., Tokyo 1987), p. 96.
