EIGHT IRON TSUBA
One signed Shinkodo, 18th/19th Century
The first a rounded-square iron tsuba carved in takabori with Shoki, 8.4cm.; a circular Shoami sukashi pierced with two wisteria, 8cm.; a circular Owari style sukashi pierced with bracken, 8cm; a circular Bushu style sukashi pierced with a design of aubergines and beans, 7.2cm.; a Satsuma style Higo ishime-ji tsuba formed as two gourds, 7.6cm.; an irregularly formed tsuba lightly carved as an abalone, signed Shinkodo, 7.2cm.; a small circular Heianjo style iron tsuba decorated in brass with bellflowers, 6.8cm.; and another circular Heianjo zogan tsuba pierced with mon and decorated in brass karakusa zogan, 7.6cm., (the last piece with slight rust with a minor damage) (8)
