Signed Tounsai Yasumasa and Kao, 19th Century
The plate carved in kebori and katakiribori, decorated with a frightened oni caught in a spider's web and a spider about to attack, in copper and iroe takazogan, the reverse carved with a pine, (slight wear)

Lot Essay

The artist studied under the fourth generation master Yasuchika and he changed his name from Yasumasa to Kunichika when he was adopted.
