Lot Essay

William Burton was the manager of the Pilkington Tile and Pottery Company from its formation in 1891 until his retirement in 1915. Louis Marc Solon (1835-1913) was a designer and pâte sur pâte artist at the Minton Pottery, joining the company in 1870.
