The first signed Goto Kiyotsugu, the second signed Goto Tsunesada, both 19th Century
The oval iron plate depicting Chinese bell-flowers in sukidashi- bori within a rim, the details of the leaves in gold nunome zogan, mimi with traces of gold nunome, with an accompanying certificate; and a circular iron tsuba carved with a design of chrysanthemums within a rim, the mimi of key-fret and leaf geometric patterns, (slight rubbing)

Lot Essay

The artist Goto Kiyotsugu (Enomoto) is probably a student of Goto Seijo. For a similar piece to Kiyotsugu's tsuba by Seijo, see Fukushi Shigeo Goto ke junanadai, p.267.
