UTAMARO/TOYOKUNI AND OTHERS: oban tate-e and kakuban surimono; the first of the courtesan Matsukaze of Matsubaya seated and beating a kozutsumi, signed Utamaro hitsu, published by Maruya Bun'emon--good impression and colour, restored at top and lower part; four prints by Toyokuni, one with the actor Segawa Roko as a woman standing by water holding a fishing net; the second of Roko as Shizuka Gozen dancing with a small drum, the third of Iwai Hanshiro as a salt gatherer, the fourth with Ichikawa Yaozo, Bando Mitsugoro and Segawa Roko beneath branches--all good impressions and colour, the first two with binding holes, the second with slight wormage, the third lightly backed and with binding holes, the fourth creased and stained, both soiled; and six surimono of a flowering plum branch, sealed, a warbler on a plum branch, unsigned, a young pine and possibly a shell box, unsigned, young pine and the rising sun, signed Sencho hitsu, of two karasu tengu at a tea ceremony, signed Busei, the last with a puppet player and a child, unidentified signature--generally good impressions and colour, all with a vertical fold line, slightly rubbed at corners (11)
