Bradman, due to a need for a rest, did not play in any of the 3 pre-tour matches in Tasmania and Western Australia, before the team departed on the tour of England. Having recently moved to South Australia, Bradman boarded the RMS Orford at Adelaide before it travelled to Perth to pick up the rest of the team
