SHANE GOULD, DIARY 4 April 1971-11 August 1972, circa 100 pages, Shane Gould's manuscript diary covering The Australian Swimming Union European Tour 24 April- 22 May 1971, with details of training and competing in London (30 April '100F/S- 58.9 equals world recoed,'1 May '200F/S 2.06.5 WORLD RECORD'), Halsinberg-Gotenburg, Gronietz, Milan, Rome; trip to Santa Clara 5 July- 12 July 1971 where she trained with Russian swimmers (9 July'Finals...400F/S 4.21.23 WORLD RECORD!); the diary continues with pre-Munich Olympic training at Scarborough 1 July 1972- 11 August when she leaves for Munich. During Scarborough Gould records her weight daily and is constantly struggling to control it. She is often tired and sometimes depressed. She has two weight charts drawn by her at the end of the diary.
