A bronze temple gong
Muromachi Period, (Late 15th/Early 16th Century)
Cast on one side with zuika, the mythical plant growing on the moon, which is often found as a decoration on early mirrors, the zuika surrounds the central boss and is itself surrounded by concentric rings, the reverse is decorated only with concentric rings, similar to those on the face
18.5 x 20.5 x 6.7cm.
