Lot Essay

The silver mounts are English and the marks appear to be those of Edmund Medlycott, known to have died before 1 March 1773.

A similar example with gilt mounts is in the Getty Museum and illustrated on the front cover of Watson, Sir Francis, Mounted Oriental Porcelain, (Washington, 1986).
