Seven Imari bowls
18th Century
The first ribbed to the inside and decorated in various coloured enamels and gilt with sprays of flowers and scrolling foliage, the exterior with ho-o birds among flowers and rocks, (slight rubbing), 11cm. diam.; another decorated in iron-red, various coloured enamels and gilt with sprays of flowers to the interior, the exterior with a honeycomb decoration, (rubbing), 11cm.; another decorated in various coloured enamels and gilt on underglaze blue, with a spray of blossom to the centre beneath branches of flowering cherry blossom and pine, the rim with sho-chiku-bai, the exterior with two panels similarly decorated, (some rubbing to gilt and enamels), 20.4cm. diam.; another with a spray of chrysanthemum in a roundel to the centre, the exterior with sprays of irises and stylised cartouches, (slight rubbing), 17.9cm. diam.; one with sprays of plum, cherry and chrysanthemums, (some rubbing,), 10.6cm. diam.; another with part of a balcony, screens, bamboo fences, blossoming cherry and plum trees, signed Daimin seika nensei, (slight rubbing), 9.5cm. diam.; and one with a spray of cherry blossom to the centre, the rim with a geometric design, the exterior with sprays of peony and chrysanthemum, (slight rubbing), 10.5cm. diam.
