A pair of Imari coffee urns
Late 17th Century
Decorated in iron-red, green and yellow enamels and gilt on underglaze blue with cranes and their nest among plum, pine and bamboo, a moulded opening for the metal tap, the whole supported by three feet shaped as actors, the loop handles with a spray of scrolling foliage, the covers with a knop finial shaped as a peach, (one with a foot repaired, slight chips and minor extended firing cracks)
