unmounted mint Block Larger Than four $1 red and pale rose in a quite remarkable, lower right corner block of nine (sheet number "131"), the centre stamp shows the variety retouched "one", unmounted mint.
The importance of this block cannot be overstated, only 156 copies of this stamp were issued and the only multiples we have been able to locate (outside of the official archives) are three pairs. There can only be three or four examples of the retouched "one" variety.
It is believed that this new discovery was part of a new issue consignment which has remained, unexhibited, in its previous collection. A superb block in every respect which could form the centrepiece of any exhibition collection of this period. Photo
