Signed Tachibana Gyokuzan, 19th Century
Decorated in gold hiramakie, takamakie, hirame, togidashi, kimpun and tuishu with a takaramono in shell inlay, red lacquer and malachite, a mast carved with bands of various patterns against a flying crane above a seigaiha pattern, the rope in metal, the sides depicting turbulent waves in gold and silver togidashi and kimpun, nashiji interior

Lot Essay

Tachibana Gyokuzan usually made inro, ojime and netsuke. He used a variety of techniques including imitations of other materials and inlay.
