Cartouche-shaped mother-of-pearl box with reeded gold mounts and slightly raised scrolling shellwork thumbpiece, the slightly raised cover carved with a cartouche-shaped reserve within turned reeded borders, painted in black with a chinaman seated on a swing and holding a pipe, within a black and gold burgau border, the bombé sides painted in parcel-gilt black with winged dragons with serpent tails, the base painted in black and gold burgau with a sunset motif within Rocaille borders
