A lacquered crane's egg
18th century
Decorated in gold and silver hiramakie, takamakie, kirigane and togidashi with go tables, two counter holders and counters scattered about, nashiji interior, the whole resting on four lacquered feet, (chip, hairline cracks); a fundame ground box and cover in the shape of a crouching karashishi decorated in gold hiramakie and okibirame, the sides with scattered peonies, nashiji interior and base, eyes inlaid in horn and glass, 19th century, (minute chips and slight rubbing); and a small lacquer barrel shaped kogo decorated on a nashiji ground with gold and silver hiramakie with lozenge shaped crane patterns, with Satsuma and butterfly mon in silver and gold kirigane, 19th century, (slight old wear)
