Rectangular box with rounded corners, with double-opening cover, both lids, four sides and base decorated with panels of horizontal wavy reeded engine-turning forming a pattern of floating polished lozenges, within narrow blue enamel borders, the long lid embellished with a parcel-enamelled polished gold foliate motif stamped on a matted ground within an arched reserve, the matted gold borders on cover and base stamped with parcel-enamelled trailing foliage, the rounded corners of the sides stamped with inverted vases parcel-enamelled in dark blue and hung with burnished gold swags, on matted gold rectangles, the inside of the base under the short cover fitted with a musical movement released by a lever on the short end

The lozenge-shaped mark on the present box indicates that it dates from or after the period of the French occupation of Geneva. The absence of French departmental marks suggests a date of after 1815.
