A CONTINENTAL BAROQUE GOLD POMANDER
probably German, 17th/early 18th century
Gourd-shaped vari-scent bottle, the four segments hinged to the base around a rectangular central column to be closed by a common screwed cap at the top, each of the loculi closed by a sliding lid at its inner side, the engraved finial with suspensory loop, engraved overall with scrolls and foliage, spreading foot with plain concave base
