A GEORGE II GOLD SCENT-BOTTLE
English, circa 1730/1740
Small scent-bottle in the shape of a tea-caddy, of rectangular section with concave polished gold corners, the front and rear panels engraved with exotic birds seated on a rostrum surrounded by strapwork and foliate scrolls on a matted gold ground, the short sides similarly chased and engraved with strapwork and foliage, all within rectangular cartouches with arched tops, inside a gold stopper, screwing circular cap engraved with a swirling foliate rosette on a matted gold ground
