Octagonal box, the cover enamelled en plein with an octagonal reserve finely painted with a lion attacking a mamelouk on horseback, against an Egyptian landscape background depicting Giza, with lake, pyramids, a Sphinx and ruins, inscribed 'Vue. de. Djizé', within a scrolling and foliate white, blue and black enamel surround with taille d'épargne gold peacock's feathers, the base identically framed and centred with a guilloché pattern of interlacing circles formed by wavy reeding covered with translucent steel grey enamel, the side panels identically enamelled and framed by white enamel bands and flanked by vertical blue enamelled faggots with twisted gold bands, the four corners enamelled in black and engraved with taille d'épargne birds seated on vases flanked by white enamelled columns
