A BAROQUE-STYLE GOLD-MOUNTED ROCK-CRYSTAL CUP
probably German, second half of the 19th century, struck with indistinct marks
Tapering rock-crystal cup of oval section with slightly bulging sides, cut with stylized flowers and leaves shaped as vertical oblong bands with rounded ends, the bevelled oval foot mounted with a reeded gold band with overlapping stylized acanthus leaves, the reeded rim of the upper border fastening an openwork gold decoration stamped with a frieze of lambrequins, central trophies of Music and Theatre flanked by masks linked by scrolling foliage
