The shaded red field scattered with stylised ibriqs, flowerheads and minor motifs beneath a stepped golden yellow mihrab arch of similar design, in a shaded green border containing flowerheads alternating with X-motifs between ivory and shaded red diamond stripes, minor reweaves

Lot Essay

A very similar rug was recently exhibited in Milan (Concar Edoardo and Levi, Alberto: Sovrani Tapetti, Milan, 1999, no.32, p.54). Attributed there to Dazkiri, the similarity of these prayer rugs to the slightly less rare medallion design rugs such as that in the following lot is noted.
