A MOMOYAMA PERIOD LACQUER COFFER
Late 16th/early 17th Century
Decorated in gold and brown hiramakie on roironuri ground and inlaid in aogai, with wolves beside trees and plants to the front and a bird and vine leaves to the back, the cover similarly decorated with flowers, the sides with flowers and a crane in a stream, with shaped and rectangular panels bordered with checkered and other geometric designs, engraved kanamono and lockplate, the interior with a minogame in gold hiramakie, (old damage and some restoration)
