A RARE LACQUER SUZURIBAKO
18th Century
Unusually formed as a curved oi [a pannier for a Buddhist trainer to carry items], the upper section with four drawers and the lower section with a drawer containing a slate and a bronze suiteki, decorated in gold and silver hiramakie on a nashiji ground, inlaid with aogai, gold, and silver heidatsu with ivy, flowers, bamboo, peony and plum, lead kanagu, (slight old wear and restoration)
24.5 x 16 x 15cm.
