An oak chest, West Country, late 17th century
the hinged moulded lid with an unusual arrangement of ten panels, above a profusely carved triple panel front, the frieze with scrolling grotesque creatures and flanked by projecting cartouches, the one to the left initialled W.V., the one to the right dated 1670, the panels carved with stylised leaves and acorns, between stiles carved with male and female busts, above a pair of drawers flanked by carved corbels, on stile feet, the panelled sides each carved with a quatrefoil motif -- 53½in. (136cm.) wide, 31½in. (80cm.) high, 23in. (58cm.) deep

These charges are payable to Cadogan Tate and are subject to VAT and an insurance surcharge.
