A German silver-mounted ivory tankard
Apparently unmarked, circa 1880
On domed foot with crimped edge, embossed and chased with ribbon-tied fruit garlands, with beaded borders, the ivory body carved with a battle frieze of mounted horsemen and soldiers, the domed cover chased as the foot and with part-fluted centre, the ivory finial formed as a soldier with sword and shield, the ivory handle carved with a cherub and a young man wearing a laurel garland
