Maker's mark of William Frisbee, London, 1803
Shaped circular with embossed beaded border, chased with a wide band of baroque strapwork between winged male and female masks, urns holding fruit, eagles and cranes, amid foliate scrolls on a textured ground, the raised centre chased with a ribbon-tied berried laurel border encircling a scene of classically draped figures of a man, woman and child on a sailing-boat, the man with shield and dagger, and holding his spear to support the sail, an eagle perched on the spear, the boat with lion's mask prow and anchor, marked on reverse
