Qianlong six-character seal mark and of the period (1736-95)
The vase of double-gourd shape, with a large globular lower body and a smaller pear-shaped upper body separated by a narrow waist, the small cover with a short stem, all covered with a fine and even pale sea-green celadon glaze

Lot Essay

A similar example from the Nanjing Museum was included in the exhibition of Qing Imperial Porcelain of the Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong Reigns, vol. 1, Beijing, 1995, col. pl. 106; a slightly smaller example, measuring 19.8 cm. high, is illustrated in the Chinese Ceramics from the Meiyintang Collection, vol. 2, London, 1994, p. 209, col. pl. 864.
