Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)
The standing figure is cast wearing a long flowing robe tied at his shoulders with a ribboned tassle, the hem engraved with scrolling lotus, the hands in anjali mudra, the face with a serene expression, with long ear lobes and a shaven head

Lot Essay

This figure may be compared to a figure of similar stature and with similarly decorated robes, but standing on a lotus throne, dated by inscription to the fourth year of Zhengtong (AD 1439) sold in our Rooms in Hong Kong, 30th October 1994, lot 392.

Compare with a smaller figure standing atop a double-tiered lotus base (28 cm.), sold in London, 12 June 1990, lot 30.
