AN UNUSUAL BLUE AND WHITE JAR AND COVER
Early Kangxi, 17th century
Of spherical shape possibly after a Middle Eastern original, with short waisted neck and shallow domed cover, painted around the body in dark blue tones with a band of foliate cartouches containing stylised lotus flowers below a collar of ruyi lappets containing flower-sprays, the cover similarly painted with a centralised floral motif radiating from the centre
