A similar cockerel tureen and cover, but without initials and without the rose enamels, is in the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, illustrated by W. Sargent, The Copeland Collection, Salem, 1991, pp. 209-211, no. 101; and another was in the John T. Dorrance, Jr. Collection, sold Sotheby's New York, 20 and 21 October 1989, lot 455. Compare also the famille rose armorial cockerel tureen and cover, with stand, of similar form and size to the present lot, made for the Basque family of Asteguieta, sold in these Rooms, together with other pieces from the service, 16 March 1981, lot 69.
