Each with leaf-wrapped everted lip flanked by scrolled handles issuing from satyr's masks mounte on the shoulders of the main tapering body, on a spreading socle, square brèche violette and ormolu stepped base, the underside of one with label inscribed in ink '63076 2 Vasi impero bronze', both with further label with indistinct inscription

Lot Essay

Other pairs of this model were sold anonymously in these Rooms, 16 December 1999, lots 16 and 18. The model was also executed in porcelain in imitation of marble by the firm of Dihl and Guérhard, for instance on a pair of vases sold from the collection of Marchese Pica-Alfieri, removed from Villa la Vallée, Lugano, Villa Diodati, Geneva, Christie's house sale, 29 September 1996, lot 135.
