A FLORENTINE GILT-METAL AND PIETRE DURE-MOUNTED AND EBONISED CABINET-ON-LATER-STAND
The pietre-dure placques 19th Century, the upper cabinet basically late 17th Century
The pietre-dure plaques decorated with various flowers and fruit in alabaster, lapis lazuli, malachite, pavonazzetto, and other marbles, the rectangular moulded cornice surmounted by a three-quarter gallery with baluster spindles and surmounted by neo-classical urns, the front with fourteen variously-sized drawers, centered by a door with a arched niche with a figure of, flanked to either side by a lapis lazuli Corinthian column, enclosing a filled interior with seven variously-sized small drawers, surmounted by a broken pediment with cherubs, flanked to either side by similar classical maidens in conforming niches, the later rosewood stand with three frieze drawers decorated conforming, on baluster legs headed by lapis lazuli panels, joined by a box stretcher and on moulded toupie feet.
