The Helmet signed Iwai Yoshishige and dated 1867, The Rest Edo Period (19th Century)
Comprising a good helmet with sixteen-plate russet-iron bowl, the plates with wavy edges and the rivet heads left visible, the russet-iron mabisashi [peak] with a haraidate [crest holder], signed Iwai Yoshishige and dated 1867, the tehen-kanamono [finial] of copper-gilt, the black-lacquered iron Hineno-jikoro [close-fitting neck-guard] with dark blue sugake-odoshi [spaced lacing], the black-lacquered iron mask in ressei style with a three-lame itamono yodarekake [throat defence], the gomai-okegawa-yokohagi-do [five-piece horizontal plate cuirass] of black-lacquered iron with detachable iron itamono kusazuri [solid-plate tassets], the chu-sode [medium-size shoulder guards] of black-lacquered iron, the Shino-gote [sleeves] black-lacquered, the karutagane-haidate [thigh guards made up of oblong metal plates] of russet iron, the Shino-suneate [shin guards] black lacquered
