A fine late 18th-Century 10¼in. radius vernier sextant by Gilbert, Wright & Hooke
the cross banded and braced oxcidised brass frame with gilt brass fittings, signed on the arc Kings Patent, GILBERT, WRIGHT & HOOKE, London, inset silvered scale divided 5°- 0°- 140°, vernier with clamp and fine screw adjustment, sighting tube, seven shades, two mirrors, pin feet and rosewood handle threaded for application of turned rosewood extension handle, within fitted keystone case with trade label for 'Andrew Wilson' in lid -- 14 x 16in. (35.5 x 40.5cm.)
