An early 19th Century 11½in. radius vernier ebony and ivory octant
with 'SBR' scale divided 2½°- 0f- 100°, vernier with clamp and fine screw adjustment, threaded pencil cap with pencil, hinged pinhole sight with thread for sighting tube, six shades (one cracked) and two mirrors, the reverse with ivory note plate engraved 1795 and brass pin feet -- 13in. (33cm.) high
