An early 18th Century hand held dry card compass
probably Dutch, the 3¼in. dia compass card with Fleur de Lis cardinal point and compass star with written direction Oost, Suÿden, Weft etc, pointer on pin, incised brass calibrated degree ring set within circular ivory box (one split), the lid with smaller compass paper inside and white metal armorial plate inscribed Crescunt Concordia Res Parvae pinned to the top -- 3½in. (9cm.) diameter
