An extremely fine contemporary early 19th Century French Prisoner-of-War boxwood and bone model of a Royal Naval 74-gun Second Rate,
with masts with gold bindings, yards, standing and running rigging, carved warrior figurehead, hair rails, heads, anchors, catheads, belaying rails, capstan, stove pipe, gratings, hammock nettings, companionways, bell, deck rails, bone water barrels, decorated balustrading, deck light, upper deck guns in slides and ship's boat with thwarts and oars in chocks. The hull, with finely carved stern and quarter gallery decoration and finished in black, white, red and lacquer, with delicately painted decoration and pale green bulwarks, is mounted to the waterline on a painted seascape plinth with carved balustrading above neo-classical decoration standing on eight bun feet -- 9 x 12½in. (22.8 x 31.8cm.) Mahogany glazed case with barrel-vaulted top and brass lion's head finial.
