No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VA… 顯示更多 The following lots were both written by Captain Sir Edward Berry (1768-1831) to Captain Ralph Willett Miller (1762-1799) immediately after the Battle of the Nile [2nd and 3rd August, 1798]. Berry was Captain of Nelson's Flagship Vanguard, and Miller, Captain of Thesus. Both letters were used by Sir N.H. Nicolas for his book Nelson Dispatches [Vol III], and his pencilled references and the date '1844' are still clearly visible

WILLMOTT 1797, full transcript reads My dear Miller, There is but one heart and one Soul in this Glorious Victory -- Your very hand-some conduct -- we saw, and felt, the Adml. is concious of your doing right and leaves it to you, to order he congratulates and thanks you -- hopes your wounds are of no consequence -- as you say -- LdHoratio I believe to be out of danger -- tho' his wound is inthe head -- and he has been sick -- send a letter or a word to me for Your Wife as I may soon be off.
