A rare French mid 19th Century carved wood and ivory 'vierge ouvrante' type figure of Nelson with reliefs of him at Trafalgar, including his death
with a carved full figure of Nelson standing atop a carved ivory bound wooden sphere, his chest opening to reveal a triptych entitled Nelson donnent l'ordres, the sphere dividing in two showing further detailed carvings of Nelson on deck, and after his being wounded, entitled Mort de Nelson, the whole standing on three carved feet -- 10½ x 4in. (26.5 x 10cm.)

Rates (Pictures)
