Hoffmann with Dante, wearing Florentine dress, seated on a marble bench reading poetry to his seated companions, within a rectangular panel, signed, titled to the reverse Poete Florentin, reserved on a claret ground gilt with scrolling foliage, the purple border gilt with a continuous band of foliage, late 19th century (light rubbing), in gilt-wood frame, the plaque -- 50cm. diam.
