She painted and sketched from an early age and often visited her local gallery in East London, South Africa. She became a nurse but married a Zimbabwean rancher and formed a great affinity with and love for the bush and wild animals. After moving to Karoi she joined the local Art Group where she attended several workshops given by prominent Zimbabwean artists. In 1983, the Group held its first exhibition in Harare and there Sally's work was sold out. She prefers to paint studies during the winter months, capturing the softer colours and harsh dry dusty atmosphere. She also received 100 subsequent commissions and has exhibited every year since. Her work can be found in private collections internationally.
