John Smith who married Hannah Logan. At his death it seems to have been received + by my godmother Margaret Norris, who retained it till her death. It was in her possession a source of great amusement for [?] and stormy days to her children and grand children. At her death it became the property of my mother [?] Maria Smith and still amused a larger circle of youngsters. -- In the division of my mother's property, there was nothing in the house that had such attractions for me as this solace of my childhood, not excepting the silver & family pictures. And this it became mine. Jno. Jay Smith. Ivy Lodge. Nov 18th '60. + by purchase or thro' some means
