HORAE, use of Rome, in Latin and French -- Heures a lusaige de Romme tout au long sans riens requerir. Avec les figures de la vie de lhomme: et la destruction de hierusalem. Paris: Gilles Hardouin, 8 March 1508.
PRINTED ON VELLUM. 8° (218 x 141mm). Bâtarde type. Metalcut anatomical man and 20 large metalcut illustrations (cf. Davies, 270), large Hardouin device on title and repeated on final page, 27 smaller metalcuts, the largest cuts unframed, all other pages with multiple-piece ornamental and historiated border. Liquid gold initials and paragraph marks on pink or blue ground, ruled in red. (Some rubbing, a few leaves repaired at extreme fore-edge, some decoration rubbed or erased.) 18th-century polished mottled calf, gilt panelled with fleurons at corners (rebacked, some wear at corners, lightly scuffed). Provenance: Du Camp (inscription at end dated 1712).
With the complete set of the Hardouins' 4° set of Horae illustrations (except the arms of Portugal), and 9 cuts from their 8° set, as enumerated by Davies, p. 319. Davies, Murray German, 270; Bohatta 887; Lacombe 199.
